Great Experience

I did the Harboured Lighthouse quilt as a zoom class with Kathy. It was easy to follow along during the class. If I missed anything or wanted to recheck part it’s easy to watch the class again. Kathy is always

Judy recommended a wonderful instructor!

What a relief it was to have Judy recommend Kathy Groves’ Bali Wedding star quilt class. I have been quilting since 2016 and have taken one other Judy N class. I just love Kathy’s classes as she is well organized

Milk Thistle (and variation) Placemats – by Quiltworx – Zoom Class

February 24, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm CST

$99.00 – $125.00

If you are new to paper piecing and/or Quiltworx patterns — then this is a perfect start!  We will not only sew the actual cover pattern — but I’ll also teach how you can modify the pattern to create the beautiful variation seen in the black/white pacemats!   Papers for 6 placemats are included with your pattern.

Lots to learn in a fun, quick project:

  • how to read Quiltworx patterns/papers
  • how to prepare your papers, bags, fabrics
  • fundamentals of paper piecing
  • curved piecing
  • the benefits of smart corners / TRP’s
  • Quiltworx stacking technique
  • and more!!

The Zoom Class series will have 3 live sessions — each on Friday mornings — from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM Central.  That time doesn’t work for you — then just catch up with the recorded version.  With all of my Zoom classes — the recordings will remain accessible to you for at least 6 months (and usually much longer!)  And I’m there for you from start to your last stitch!  Whether it’s a quick email answer, a phone call or a 1-on-1 Zoom session — I’ll make sure you cross the finish line.

This pattern is appropriate for all quiltmakers — from confident beginners to seasoned quilters!  Let me share with you the many tips, tricks and techniques I’ve learned through my 20 years of quilt making and the over 100 Quiltworx quilts I’ve created!  I’ll also teach how to modify the pattern to create the beautiful variation seen in the black and white placemats.  I won’t let this project end up on your UFO pile!

Classes meet on Fridays, 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM on Zoom (just like watching a YouTube video — except you can ask questions live!)  I’ve included sewing time between the classes so you can make good progress between sessions.  Also included will be several hours of pre-recorded sessions to help fill-in-the-blanks with reading the pattern, understanding the papers, cutting and bagging your fabrics and more!  I also make available a number of specialized Technique videos so you can master those Quiltworx techniques!

Friday, February 24th — Intro to the pattern, papers, fabrics and the prep

Friday, March 10th — we’ll start sewing!

Friday, March 24th  — more sewing — including curved piecing and assembly

Class with pattern included:  $125.00

Class – instruction only:          $99.00

From “No Way” to Success and Comraderie!

This was a great experience. I would never have had the nerve to try this on my own. When I first opened the pattern I almost said no way. The only thing that kept me from backing out was knowing
