What a relief it was to have Judy recommend Kathy Groves’ Bali Wedding star quilt class. I have been quilting since 2016 and have taken one other Judy N class. I just love Kathy’s classes as she is well organized and teaches to each participant’s skill level. Although I was working on a King size wedding quilt instead of the table topper, Kathy took the extra time to walk me through the process, double check my piecing and cutting math and generally just give me the support I needed to finish this quilt. I will definitely be taking another class with her. The advantage of zoom classes is being able to see her work close up and clearly, which is something I always missed with in person classes. Hopefully soon we will be able to have in person classes and I look forward to meeting her in person. She is just outstanding.

Can’t say enough about how fun, laid back, and informational this retreat has been! I can’t truly say I’m “bummed” about missing her next one because I’m going to Quiltworx (!!!) in October, but if it weren’t for that I’d be doing everything I could to be here. This is a perfect holiday quilt! Take 10 red fat quarters, 10 green fat quarters and 10 cream/white fat quarters, a little cutting and shuffling and you are ready to sew! Only 2 spots in each block where you worry about points matching makes this a great beginner’s project. Have it ready to display this holiday season!st
Class will meet Tuesday and Wednesday, October 15-16 from 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
This is NOT a paper pieced quilt. Just grab 10 green fat quartters, 10 red fat quarters and 10 cream/white fat quarters and you’ll be ready to go! (FQ are a MUST!)
Pattern included with class fee.

I enjoy Kathy’s method of teaching. It’s relaxed and free form. I can progress at my pace. Kathy is always happy and open to suggestions. She had a terrific solution to a fabric problem. I didn’t need to recreate a section or buy more fabric! I wish the workshop was four days. I felt that I was just understanding the methods of construction plus making progress when it was over! I am looking forward to her return to Shipshewana.

I enjoyed the class today even though I wasn’t doing the actual Judy Niemeyer quilt that was being taught. My feedback is that I would like to have seen a little more of the actual stitching, especially doing the inside & outside points. I did have some interruptions on my side when you was talking about the threads to use & I’ll go back and watch that (the advantage of sharing the class recordings!) I did enjoy seeing the needle books, I will have to do that also.

Quiltster is a phenomenal tool.. and you made it even more useful for me in understanding the “sync” button and swapping out all fabrics from the print/fabric screen.
I wanted to let you know your approach to virtual teaching is total complete and truly well put together for your students success. Your use of PowerPoints and PDF electronic handouts all kept handy and accessible in an online folder add tremendous value to your classes.
