Fundamentals of Quiltmaking – A Must Class for Beginning Quilters
Kathy provided a clear outline for each week. We were provided with instructions on cutting out fabric to prepare samples of the blocks and techniques that were going to be demonstrated in the upcoming that class. We were also were encouraged to message any problems we were having or questions. Her responses were always timely and offered suggestions. We all proudly displayed our finished blocks for that session. We also were provided with additional resources.
I have been quilting for a few years but still referred to myself as a beginner. After this class I can walk through that door!
I can now do partial seams, flying geese, prairie points, a true 1/4 inch seam, and curves. Plus so much more.
I highly recommend this class.

Quiltworx Wedding Star Table Topper – a Zoom Class
The Double Wedding Ring quilt pattern is on every quilter’s bucket list. Join dozens of past students who are now enjoying their beautiful Wedding Star Table Toppers decorating their tables!
While the world is slowing “opening up” — it’s still nice to sew from the comfort of your own sewing room! Let’s all ZOOM our way to success! All you will need is a smart phone, tablet or computer to join me in this 5 session class series! The best part of all – you don’t need to pack up your machine and supplies! You get to work in the comfort of your own sewing room.
Take the plunge and join me and make your own DWR quilt! We will start with the Quiltworx Wedding Star Table Topper – a pattern that teaches you almost EVERYTHING you need to know should you decide to make a larger wall quilt or even a queen- or king-sized bed quilt! The table topper is the perfect introductory size – 2 rings by 2 rings – 30” x 30”. This is one that can be easily finished in a very short window of time! If you are ready to do a larger Wedding Star Quilt — just email me — and we can make that work as well.
This class series will take you from the very beginning until your table topper is complete – or nearly so! Interactive classes allow you to observe and see what I do as well as ask questions along the way. The class sessions will be recorded so you can re-watch later if you wish. Questions between sessions? I’m only an email or phone call/video chat away! My promise to you is that you will have support every step of the way as you finish your quilt top!
A $120 value including 5 sessions, pattern and endless support for $99!
Classes will meet Fridays in March and into April 2021. (Can’t attend the live sessions — join and participate via the recorded sessions. You can email me if you have any questions at all!) All times are CST (Central – same as Chicago or Dallas)

- Session #5 – Finishing Up (how to bind!) –Friday, April 2, 2021 – 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
With your registration you will receive a complete supply list and fabric requirements list. Shop your stash as this project doesn’t require large quantities of any one fabric. I can also prepare a kit in a number of color ways — email me for more information
Class fee is based upon the Wedding Star Table Topper Pattern — if you already own your pattern or prefer to make one of the larger quilts — just email me! We can invoice you directly to accommodate the pattern of your choice – or no pattern included!

I’m in Kathy’s Dinner Plate Dahlia Zoom class. I just signed up for the upcoming (March 2021) Coral Reef Zoom class as well! She’s a fantastic teacher. Clear and concise instructions and very helpful and patient.

Here we are in a time when we can’t meet in person and there is a learning curve for everyone, but Kathy took it on and was able to succeed. I know she will see everyone through in completing their various projects. Kathy obviously is very comfortable teaching any class. Suggestions for Zoom would be to pre-record just the instructions for the day, and then take questions and open up for sewing, where appropriate. I really appreciate the instructions in the separate videos that were given after the fact. I would pay for classes that aren’t interactive, but are just the recordings. I’m sure I will take part in future classes.
