Applique the Quiltworx Way Class
I took the class to learn a applique technique that did not utilize fusible. I did not expect to learn how to use tools in new innovation ways. This was a WONDERFUL class. Well worth the price!!

Never shy of a quilting challenge, I purchased a kit and began working on my first Judy Niemeyer quilt, Dinner Plate Dahlia. Everything went smoothly except for one small unit mid-pattern that I could not get my head around. While looking for help online, I discovered Kathy’s website and realized that she had pieced the cover photo for the Quiltworx pattern. I contacted Kathy and she responded quickly, setting me straight with just a few email messages. I am forever grateful for Kathy’s kindness and clear direction, and look forward to taking one of her online classes soon.

From the basics of working with a Quiltworx pattern to the fundamentals of foundation paper piecing and curved piecing – this is the perfect holiday project to get a hands-on education in Judy Niemeyer’s techniques. I just finished the quilting fundamentals class. I am an average sewer for crafts/boho bags and some clothes. Was a little concerned I would be in over my head with my busy schedule. I absolutely loved this class, easy to understand and well explained! The pace gave me time to practice my blocks and move on. Kathy is excellent (and it shows) in her teaching and presentations and she organizes them in an easy and understandable class sessions.
My confidence is much higher now and I’m ready for future projects. Thank you Kathy!

Kathy Groves did an exceptional job teaching me how to do paper piecing. Kathy broke down the process so i could understand the steps, was incredibly patient during the workshop, plus she offered videos of the process. I’ve been visiting my family since the workshop and am looking forward to finishing my poinsettia table topper when I get home. I had tried this twice process before and never finished my project because I was intimidated by the process and couldn’t remember any of the steps. The only suggestion I have is to add a powerpoint with the steps of the process to the lecture. Only four slides are needed. Show all the pieces cut out. Show organizing into bags. Show lining the pieces up, then show steps on the bookmark. You explained it all in the class so well, but as a novice i would have liked to see the method as part of the lecture.
