When you are looking to create your own paper piecing foundations — having the right paper is key! And your standard computer paper is NOT your best choice.
You want something thin, easy to tear, or even water soluable. See through if you are tracing your pattern. Or printable if you are printing your pattern. Each has its own merits — so it depends upon your specific project and needs. All are (8 1/2″ x 11″).
Paper Solvy — a water soluble stabilizer that you can run through your inkjet printer! When you are done sewing, gently submerge your block and watch the papr disappear! Use your inkjet printer to print your pattern. A little pricey — 12 sheets for $8.99. But a really great product!
Foundation Piecing Paper by That Patchwork Place – newsprint weight — works great to print your patterns. You can see through for tracing but you’ll want a light box. 100 sheets for $15.
Translucent Vellum – great for printing and EASY to see through for tracing – -works great for applique patterns, too! 50 sheets for $15
