Essential Tools for Foundation Paper Piecing

My goal is to help you make quilts.  My goal is not to sell stuff.  But every minute you’re running to look for something is a minute you’re not sewing!   Every paper-piecer needs these tools in their tool box. If you have a version of each tool that works for you — great!  At a minimum, you deserve a fresh rotary blade for each new quilt project – it makes life so much easier!  You don’t want to run out of glue when you’re deep into assembling your curved units (because glue IS the secret sauce for curves!) For a queen size quilt, you should start with at least 3 of the Repositionable Glue Sticks and grab at least a 6 pack of glue refills for the smaller pen.   While you’re here, you might want to make sure your Go Bag is fully stocked for your next retreat or workshop! (nothing worse than getting to retreat and find you forgot your rotary cutter!)

Nice-to-have for Foundation Paper Piecing

These items are helpful, especially as you gain experience and your commitment to paper piecing grows.   They will make your quilting life easier, and you may soon come to see them as ESSENTIAL!  A 60mm Rotary Cutter makes cutting 6, 8 or more layers of fabric MUCH easier.  They are also recommended for quilters with wrist pain from arthritis or similar issues. I LOVE the Acorn Press Pen  and refill solution.  they apply moisture on the seam in a very controlled manner and allow you get nice flat seams.  You can press without a wool mat, but they help you press both sides of the seam and make the seam so much flatter.  This saves you time and gets you a great result.  The Yazzii bags are the ultimate in portable organization.   The Carry All Bag is a great bag for the car and will even hold a nice size cutting mat.   The Quilter’s Project Bag is perfect for your everyday Go Bag
