SUMMARY:Diamond Wedding Star by Quiltworx - Live Zoom Series
DESCRIPTION:This is a quilt I’ve long wanted to make!  Now is the time! \nThe Diamond Wedding Star finishes at 96″ x 99″.  You can do the piecing only — which allows for exquisite quilting to highlight your piecing.  Or you can add applique to add another layer of beauty to your quilt.  Go holiday (I’ll be doing my applique in reds for a Poinsettia & Holly look) or go beautiful spring\, summer or fall colors!  Any color combination you choose this quilt will be a stunner! \nThe quilt is build to use one of Judy’s 2 1/2″ strip sets (I have many colorways available) or you can create your own!  The intro class will explain fully how to color and coordinate your fabric purchases to create the quilt of your dreams.  The pattern is also available in Quiltster.  (Never used Quiltster before?  Purchase my one demand Quiltster class and you’ll be up to speed in no time at all.) \nClasses meet LIVE on Saturday morning for a discussion and explanation of your upcoming homework.  Separate instructional sewing videos will detail the actual techniques required to sew each component and through the assembly process. \nChoose to add applique to your quilt — or just do the piecing!  It’s up to you.  Instruction will be provided for both applique options:  traditional machine applique using Judy’s applique products OR choose machine digitized embroidery applique using the Fabric Confetti Software.  The differences and options will be discussed in the intro class session. \nPatterns / Applique if purchases will be shipped early-mid November.  Patterns & applique are discounted with purchase through me! \nLive class sessions will be recorded — so you’ll never miss a moment. \nAll classes are on Saturdays and start at 10:00 AM – and will run 60-90 minutes (as long as needed).  RESERVE YOUR SPOT BEFORE THANKSGIVING AND SAVE $25.00  USE COUPON CODE   TURKEY.\n20-Dec             Introduction to Pattern\, Fabric Requirements\, Applique Options \n10-Jan              Cutting & Organizing Fabrics \n17-Jan              Preparing Appliqué \n31-Jan              Strip Piecing the Arcs \n14-Feb              Curved Piecing (AR / BL)          \n28-Feb              Flame Star — Cutting / Sewing \n14-Mar              Assembly Prep — Cutting LARGE T-Templates \n28-Mar              Assembly — Creating Wedge Groups \nRecorded          Machine Embroidery How-To (Fabric Confetti Software) \n11-Apr              Assembly — Joining Wedges to Rows \n25-Apr              Finishing Your Quilt Top \n  \nMy commitment to you is from start-to-finish!  Even after the series is completed — as long as you are working — I’ll be there if you have any questions!

Mary T.Fun instructor who teaches to all levels of skillHi\,\nJust wanted to post a little note. I am very new to sewing and especially quilting. My friend\, who lives in Indiana\, asked me if I wanted to take a quilting class with her. So I did. Kathy was beyond fantastic. She is a true instructor who understands how not to overwhelm students who are trying to learn a new skill set. It was super fun\, relaxing and I learned a lot. There were some very experienced quilters in the class who also learned a lot. I’ve already decided that I’m going to Shipshewana again next year (2025)! Thanks for a fun week! Dana ARetreat\, Videos\, In-Person – Great ways to learn!I really like your hybrid teaching concept with great in-person instruction\, supplemented with videos shared before and available for review after the retreat.  I think that is more of the way the future will look.  Many traditional quilters like the in-person sessions\, and I understand that. But those of us with jobs and kids and other responsibilities cannot afford to be away for long periods of time.  While this was a table topper class\,  I did purchase a queen size pattern\, so it was worth going thru the class versus doing something from videos only. Gina VivianoYoder's Department Store - Shipshewana\, IN“My First Retreat! — What A Blast!”What a blast! The “Best Little Quilt Retreat in Texas” was my first retreat\, my first paper piecing project\, and a first-class teacher . Thank Kathy for making the Judy technique doable for me! Terri J.M. Best Little Quilt Retreat in Texas 2023I learned a LOT!I have special needs children and really needed a 2-day respite\, but the pace was faster than I expected\, so I didn’t get much rest!    The videos you shared ahead of the retreat were a life-saver!  However\, with that said\, I did enjoy my time at the retreat. I appreciate how you were able to attend to everyone in the place they were as we got going. You were thorough in your explanations\, which was great. And you shared some invaluable tips and tricks to surviving a “Judy project”.  Meredith the other instructor from Yoder’s Department Store was a strong\, stable persona in the room the entire time and that helped as well!   I enjoyed getting to know you and the ladies in the group\, which is rare for me as an extreme introvert!  Thank you for the experience! Gina VivianoYoder's Department Store - Shipshewana\, INHer first Paper Piecing Project – WOW!Kathy’s note:  This was Elaine’s first paper piecing project!  All I can say is WOW!!! Thanks Kathy!  Couldn’t have done it without you!  You are a great teacher.  I highly recommend her for your quilting projects. PS The Quilt is even more beautiful in person! Elaine Y.S.Can’t Recommend Kathy Enough!Take one of Kathy’s classes- live and/or zoom. You will be guided through the process with as much support as you need. I can’t recommend Kathy at BobKat quilts enough! She is wonderful! Wendy SBobKat’s Retreat – The Value is Phenomenal! Can’t say enough about how fun\, laid back\, and informational this retreat has been! I can’t truly say I’m “bummed” about missing her next one because I’m going to Quiltworx (!!!) in October\, but if it weren’t for that I’d be doing everything I could to be here. But that just means my seat is open for someone else!   This retreat WILL fill up!  If you have the time\, you should be here —  The value is phenomenal. Thank you Kathy for a fantastic week! Tabitha A.I Loved the Retreat!I joined Kathy at her BobKat Quilts Shipshewana Retreat where I worked on my 1st Quiltworx Quilt Carnival Flower. I loved the retreat and Kathy’s world of knowledge! If you get a chance\,  join Kathy at one of her future in-person or zoom classes or at an upcoming retreat Daphney CThank You for a Fantastic Week!Thank you so much for a fantastic week. This is my first time making a JN quilt and Kathy made the whole process understandable and enjoyable. She is an outstanding instructor and I will be taking future classes with her. Wendy SOutstanding Retreat!Your Shipshewana Retreat  was Outstanding!!! Had a great time with great people. And I will go home with my Carnival Flower in Tula colors 3/4 assembled. Couldn’t quite get that last slice in there but will finish at home. I learned so much this week Janet L.Great class with Kathy GrovesI really enjoyed our class in Shipshewana doing Zen Garden. I thought your teaching was right on. Loved all of your short cuts and tips so our projects would come out perfect. Even at home as I continue my project\, I can use your tricks. We really didn’t go thru the instruction book. I don’t know if that was a good thing or not. I certainly have had no problem following along now that I’m at home. Lastly\, I would like to know how you organize your instruction book(s). I know a lot of people use highlighters on certain instructions. How do you do it? Again thank you for a great class. I am looking forward to seeing you again in Shipshewana for future classes. Debra RYoders/Cotton CornerEnjoyable and relaxingI enjoy Kathy’s method of teaching. It’s relaxed and free form. I can progress at my pace. Kathy is always happy and open to suggestions. She had a terrific solution to a fabric problem. I didn’t need to recreate a section or buy more fabric! I wish the workshop was four days. I felt that I was just understanding the methods of construction plus making progress when it was over! I am looking forward to her return to Shipshewana. Marilouise HYoder Department Store and The Cotton CornerGreat Instructor\, I highly recommend her!Very nice\, patient and knowledgeable teacher. Easy to follow her instructions. Kathy has great tricks that she easily shared and made sure we understood before moving on. Highly recommend one of her classes. Debra RYoders and The Cotton CornerGreat group instructor…AND personal follow up!Kathy was very helpful during Qultworx University. She provided helpful tips and shortcuts\, written cue cards. I found her group instructions to be helpful and appreciated individual follow up after the demonstration. She was also quick answer individual questions and requests for help with problems. I enjoyed learning to know and work with Kathy. Sarah Buller FentonGreat instructor! Very easy to understand…Kathy is very patient and knowledgeable.  She teaches in a way that is very easy to understand no matter your level of experience Sandra Berg-WhileyAfter your class…I am having a ball!I can’t believe how smoothly my quilt is going together.  I’ve been sewing 2-3 hours a day! SUMMARY:Shipshewana Spring 2025 - Quiltworx Technique of the Month Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Sorry we are at capacity for Spring 2025! \nWe’re now taking reservations for our Autumn  Shipshewana Retreat –\n October 7 – 12\, 2025!   See the new listing.\nDon’t miss your opportunity to visit Shipshewana in Late Spring 2025 to work on  your Quiltworx Technique of the Month Quilt!  Jungle Magnolia!! You know you’ll want to make it!  Or bring any pattern you wish to sew! \nWe are adding an extra day this year — so we’ll be retreating from Tuesday\, June 3 (start sewing at 10:00 AM) and we will sew until Sunday afternoon (4:00 PM).  THAT IS 6 FULL DAYS OF SEWING!!!   That week is also the week of the nearby Elkhart Quilt Show — so you can sneak away one day to take in the show if you wish!  It’s about a 20 minute drive.  Not to mention a visit to Yoder Department Store\, The Cotton Corner\, Lolly’s\,  Essenhaus Quilt Shop\, Caroline’s\, Zincks and more!  And don’t forget your stop at JoJo’s Pretzels or Ben’s Pretzels!  Yummy is the word of the day! \nAs always — I’ll start the instruction on Zoom in February — and you can join me then and get started or wait until the retreat to get going.  The full Zoom Series is included with your retreat registration!  A $300+ value! \nThe Zoom series is available independently as well.  You can choose RETREAT ONLY or ZOOM ONLY or you can purchase your pattern with your registration (I discount them with registration!) for either the retreat or the Zoom Series.  Since the pattern was released — Certified Shops have been offering KITS — which can include fabric only or fabric with pattern – make sure you don’t purchase 2 patterns!   I can also help you custom design your own colorway using Quiltster if you want your own unique quilt.  Or join me and learn how to use Quiltster to design your own! \nDeposit will be refundable through January 31st\, 2025 less a 4% processing (mostly what is withheld by the payment processor.)   Reserve your hotel rooms independently at The Farmstead Inn or plan to stay at the nearby campground or check out some of the nearby VRBO / B&B options.  There are other hotels a little less pricey you may want to check out.  You do NOT need to stay at the hotel to participate in the Retreat. \nI hope you’ll consider joining me.  With the Zoom support added — this is a GREAT value — 6 days of sewing and the full Zoom Series (and my support from start to finish regardless of your timeline). \n\n \n

SUMMARY:Curve Crazy!
DESCRIPTION:Does sewing curves make you uneasy?  Well\, by the time  you finish this project you’ll be a pro! \nUtilizing specialized acrylic templates\, each fabric piece is precisely cut and then you sew them together.  To be honest — it was harder to cut the fabrics than to sew them together!  LOL \nJoin me at Honey Bee Quilt Store in Austin\, Texas on Thursday\, April 17 from 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM and learn how quickly this quilt will go together.  You’ll have some rectangles cut before class — but the precision cutting we’ll do in class.  Then we’ll sew!  Truly you’ll be amazed at how easy these curves come together.  Once your blocks are complete — standard quilt construction (blocks –> rows) is how you finish! \nA great stashbuster!  You can create an organized quilt in a rainbow sequence… work with patriotic colors\, personal favorites or just raid you stash!! \nThursday\, April 17 — 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM \n \nNote:  Class fee includes templates/pattern. \nVisit https://www.honeybeequiltstore.com/ to register or email me for more information.

SUMMARY:BobKat's Spring 2024 Retreat in Shipshewana\, Indiana
DESCRIPTION:We had so much fun in April of 2023…\nYour Classes are Fabulous!I thoroughly researched many educators offering classes for the Quiltworx Jungle Magnolia and BobKat Quilts was the best fit for me!   Your classes are FABULOUS!   I’m so glad that I found you! SUMMARY:Electric Quilt 8 - Introduction
DESCRIPTION:Do you like designing your own quilt blocks?  or your own quilts?  Do you see images online but can’t find the pattern — but think — I should be able to figure this out!  Or maybe you have a pattern but would like to resize the blocks in it?   \nUnlock the magic of Electric Quilt Design Software!  I’ll get you started with understanding the screen interface and navigation\, designing basic blocks and quilts\, adding your fabrics to the EQ Fabric stash and more!  Don’t let this extraordinary tool go unused!  Let me help you unlock the magic of EQ8. \nStudents should have EQ installed and activiated on their own computer.  I suggest having a mouse for easier navigation within the software.  For the Zoom class — it is helpful if you log in and view the class from a second device — so you can see and do at the same time!  You will also receive supplemental handouts and “assisgnments” to challenge you to use your skills! \nClasses are recorded so you can go back and review and practice long after the live class concludes.  Look for the next class in the series coming later this fall. where we will look at more tools and explore creating applique designs! \nDate:  Sunday afternoon\, August 13 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

SUMMARY:12 Days of Christmas - Southwest Style - Zoom Class Series
DESCRIPTION:This fun set of digitized embroidery designs can be used to create a fun quilt\, table topper/runner\, napkins\, mug rugs…  You are only limited by your creativity. \nThe class will include instruction on how to create “applique with your embroidery machine”. \nClass fee includes the digitzed embroidery designs (and the SVG files if you have a cutting machine!).  In addition — the individual block designs can also be embroidered AND quilted at the same time — a great quilt as you go project!  Just add your sashing / borders and you’ll be practically finished!   We’ll work through together (and on camera) the process to use the included design files and YOUR fabrics to create these fun designs.  Once stitched out — we’ll create the quilt! \nSpecial tools needed: \nStabilizer (l like tear-away – but your preferred will work\, too) \nCurved Handled Scissors – for applique by embroidery machine \nEmbroidery Threads \nClass meets 3 times:  POSTPONED FOR NOW (My embroidery machine decided to act up and needs to visit the machine MD.) \nThis fall…  when I get my embroidery machine back!  🙁 \nPlease check back — this is a super fun project.  You can also purchase the embroidery designs separately on my website as well.
